Welcome to the website of Bike Walk Chattanooga, a bike and pedestrian advocacy group in Chattanooga, TN.  Chattanooga is a thriving, mid-sized city with a revitalizing urban core, many outdoor attractions, and is a fun, affordable place to live.  Located on the Tennessee River and surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains, it’s no wonder Chattanooga has landed the name the “Scenic City”.

A Bicycle Destination

The city has received many accolades that has put it on the map as a national tourism destination.  In 2011 and again in 2015, Outside Magazine named Chattanooga the “Best Town Ever”.  Likewise, Bicycling magazine named Chattanooga as one of the most bike-friendly cities in the United States for supporting a vibrant and diverse bike culture and having savvy bike shops.  Playing host to the 2013, 2014, and 2015 Pro Cycling Championships, the annual 3 State 3 Mountain Century Ride, and now hosting a half and full Ironman triathlon, Chattanooga draws in all types of people on bikes.

Make Connections, Create Community

More importantly than the events is the infrastructure that has steadily been invested in that has earned this city the accolade as the first Gold Bicycle Friendly City designation by the League of American Bicyclists.  Chattanooga was the first city in the state of Tennessee to have a public bike share.  With public amenities such as the Walnut Street pedestrian bridge, the Tennessee Riverwalk, the South Chickamauga and Virginia Avenue Greenways, and plans to have one of the most extensive protected bike lane grid in the southeast, Chattanooga is quickly becoming a bicycle destination.
